It was a little warm on Saturday, but Portage was STILL ALOT of fun. We Added to the Mental toughness bank account on Saturday, running on somewhat tired legs and really having to POWER through !!!

Under the Lights

Under the Lights meet was SOOO much FUN !!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were FIREWORKS, Glow Sticks, Running :) ALL GOOD THINGS !!!!

It was kind of hard to take pictures though b/c it was so dark, so here are a few. You can find more in the HCXC shared photo album.

It was kind of crazy to me how WARM it still was outside at 11:30 at night, and while it was warm that didn't seem to bother the runners, we had MANY season bests already

We do keep some extras with us, we don't keep enough the for the entire team, if everyone shows up without one on. So I am sure you still have a few laying around, please make sure it gets in your Runners Gym bag, or you can always stock up with some disposable ones, I found 100 of them on amazon for $16.99. I am also still a fan of my Cotapaxi mask or the ones I got from Athleta.

Meet Results From Tuesday 8/24/21

It was a SUPER HOT first meet of the season !!! Thankfully a little bit of rain rolled in just before the races were supposed to start and we got a little break from the humid air and high temps.

We gave the runners goal times and groups to run with. They were basically supposed to do a Tempo workout :)

Kelly DeWitt has arranged for a HCXC “team” and has a donor covering the entry fee for HCXC athletes

As you fill out the form you can choose

“HCXC” under the Team Name and choose

“ 0 - HCXC” under Payment Amount.

It is hard to believe we are only one week from the official start of the 2021 XC season! We are very excited to be practicing with the whole team together and looking forward to sharing this fall season with all of you. Extra milers has been great to meet many new members and we hope the Saturday morning runs have been fun with some food. This week is a "Dead Week" per MHSAA rules meaning we can not do specified distances with a specific time but there are no restrictions on meeting and running for conditioning purposes.

Important Items:


1.  Everyone must have a physical on file/uploaded to HC dated April 15, 2021 or after


2.  Monday - Friday (August 9-13) Mandatory Practice  7:30am-9:00am  

     Monday August 16 7:30am-9:00am


3.  August 7 Saturday Long Run Host (9:00am)

6.  The Heights of Hope 5K Saturday, August 14.  They are having an 8:30 AM race and a 5:30 PM race.
